Kolkata Photo Walking – 20th September 2009

Photowalking is the act of walking with a camera for the main purpose of taking pictures of things that the photographer may find interesting; and the idea of organizing such a Photo Walk in Kolkata has been by Arjun da.
We got a very nice response to the first Photo Walk in Kolkata. when we had started organizing it there were only four people but on the final day(20/09/2009), we got more people.

Photo Walking Team; Missing Mr. Anirban Saha (Snaping)

We all gathered near Golbari, Shyambazar at 7:30am. Most of the people were in time. And after having an interacting session we all headed for our destination – Kumartuli at 8:00am.

It was a busy, crowdy day in Kumartuli.

All the artists were busy in giving finishing touches to the Durga pratimas.

It was all fun out there. Hardly any of the artists had time to talk to us but some how we managed to talk to a few. It was really very nice to hear them.

During such a WALK a very shocking thing happened with us. Arjun da was taking a snap of a old building meanwhile we heard an old man shouting at him in a language which hardly anyone had expected to hear from those people. He was scolding him in ENGLISH!!!! And in the way he scolded him, that was very much insulting so we just ran out of his sight.

But finally it was a great day out there. A day full of fun, excitement and enthusiasm which no one is going to forget. We are hoping to get a media coverage of out snaps within a few days. And We are also planning to have the SECOND KOLKATA PHOTO WALKING SESSION by the end of this year.

A few more snaps taken by me:
